At our Clingendael properties we strive to create for you as close an experience as paradise on earth. To create an atmosphere where our guest would perceive that they did not book a stay at a hotel, but rather enjoy a stay at the stately home of a dear friend, who happened to have good taste and a great chef.
To meet during your stay like minded travel enthusiastic worldly fellow travellers to exchange ideas with the possibilty to share a drink or a meal. An atmosphere with bespoke signature butler service of days gone by in a setting of delirious privacy. A place where Lord Robert Grantham of Downtown Abbey fame would have felt very much at home.
" We have been fortunate to have travelled extensively and have had the pleasure of staying some of the world’s greatest hotels. And while the properties and service of these grand hotels is beyond reproach, the nature of their business, the scale of the hotels can cause a certain lack of intimacy, and a lack of interaction with the staff. Some may consider that a good thing. We do not. As grand a hotel as the Clingendael is (and it is truly spectacular) it pales in comparison to the friendliness, competence, and care displayed by every member of the staff. From the time we were met at the gates to the property until Ajith the wonderful and charming butler took us to catch our seaplane flight, the entire stay, every possible aspect of it, was beyond wonderful.
